That trajectory is a continuous cycle, much like a lunation. New moon curls. Full moon rounds. Between waxing and waning is a whole arc of countless forms of changing light, and no single moment tells the full story.
Born from cross-cultural life experiences and conversations across continents, Lunation: The Orbit of Power and Identity invites audiences to see power and identity as diverse, layered, and evolving across societies. A lunation reveals relationships, patterns, and hidden connections. In the same way, this publication seeks to map the forces that shape our collective life: the institutions that govern us, the identities that define us, and the ideas that guide our choices.
Power does not exist alone. It moves through institutions, traditions, incentives, identities, and systems of belief. It shapes people, societies, and systems—influencing how individuals understand themselves, their responsibilities, and their place in the world.
The central question is not only who holds power, but also how power is organized, transmitted, and sustained. It is not only what systems and institutions do, but what kinds of people they produce. It is not only how societies change, but which forces make certain transformations possible while preventing others.
In an age of constant information, understanding has become more difficult, not less. We are surrounded by events but often lack the frameworks needed to interpret them. Lunation exists to create space for slower thinking: to examine the invisible structures behind visible realities, focusing on the continuous dynamics between power and identity that shape human affairs.

Moon Ting Li is a brand advisor, creative director and feminist journalist. Her work centers lived experiences within broader political, cultural, and institutional power structures, ranging from war and peacebuilding to narrative resistance and personal autonomy. With a decade of experience inside the international system of the United Nations, her reporting blends narrative intimacy with geopolitical insight, positioning her as a critical voice on the gendered and institutional power dynamics.
